CrimeFest 2024: A Final Celebration of Crime Literature
Mark your calendars for May 15th to 18th, as Bristol’s Mercure Grand Hotel will host the final installment of the esteemed CrimeFest convention. After 16 remarkable years, this event promises to culminate in a spectacular farewell celebration.
Exciting Author Line-Up and Panels
This year’s convention features a roster of new and established talents in the crime fiction genre. Notable additions include:
- Matthew Sweet: Acclaimed journalist and author.
- Mark Gatiss: Known for his work in acting, screenwriting, and novel writing; he will discuss his latest project, Bookish (Quercus).
- Chris Chibnall: The creator of Broadchurch, making his crime-writing debut with Death at the White Hart (Penguin).
In a special session, bestselling author Lee Child will engage in a conversation with his brother and co-author Andrew Child about the beloved Reacher series.
There will also be a panel featuring the prestigious Diamond Dagger recipients: Lindsey Davis, Martin Edwards, and John Harvey.
Honoring Literary Legends
A particularly poignant feature of CrimeFest 2024 will be the Ghost of Honour panel, dedicated to the esteemed author John le Carré. His legacy will be honored by his sons, Simon Cornwell and Nick Harkaway, during this heartfelt session.
Looking Back and Forward
The organizers have shared that the upcoming 2025 CrimeFest will be the last to occur in Bristol, marking the closure of this celebrated chapter in the literary community. According to Adrian Muller, co-host and founder of CrimeFest, “Programming CrimeFest for the past 16 years has been a labour of love. We’ve had the privilege of bringing together some of the best crime writers in the world, and the sense of community we’ve built is something truly special.”
Muller expresses a commitment to making this final convention memorable, featuring an impressive lineup of authors and panels designed to leave a lasting impression.
