HarperCollins Completes Transition to State-of-the-Art Logistics Center

Scheduled Closure for Migration

HarperCollins has announced that its supply chain will undergo a temporary closure from May 26 to June 9, 2023, as the company transitions its operations from the Bishopbriggs facility to a new location in Robroyston.

The Bishopbriggs center will cease dispatching orders after May 30, marking an important milestone in the logistics upgrade.

Overview of the New Robroyston Center

The Robroyston facility, newly unveiled earlier this year to authors, political figures, and industry leaders, is set to enhance HarperCollins’ operational capabilities significantly. The center is designed to hold over 56,000 distinct titles across 220,000 designated locations.

Advanced Logistics and Automation

With the help of KNAPP logistics automation systems and new machinery from Jungheinrich, the Robroyston center aims to streamline the processing and movement of books. This technological upgrade is expected to facilitate the dispatch of more than 110 million books annually, including three million units each week during peak seasons.

Significant Additions to the New Site

The Robroyston facility will also house a substantial portion of HarperCollins’ education and reference division, Collins, in addition to the HarperCollins Archive. This strategic placement of resources is anticipated to bolster the company’s efficiency as it serves its diverse customer base.

Conclusion

HarperCollins is poised to enhance its distribution capabilities significantly through this migration, ensuring a robust supply chain ready to meet the demands of the book market.
