Will Atkinson and Kevin Campbell are joining the board of Glasgow-based distributor BookSource.
Atkinson, managing director of Atlantic Books for nine years until 2023, was appointed as non-executive director and will take his seat on the BookSource board in February 2025.
He has held various industry roles, including being a trade council member for the Publishers Association, chair of the Independent Publishers Guild, and a board member of the Edinburgh Book Festival.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining the board of directors at BookSource. I have had a wonderful relationship with Scotland through my work with the Edinburgh Book Festival and Faber Factory, so this is a welcome return to a key part of the publishing industry in Scotland.
“As I continue to work with smaller independents, I recognise that good and wide physical distribution only gets more valuable. The ethos at BookSource is one of helping publishers through a very human and personable approach. It is a special place, and I am looking forward to contributing to the future success of the company.”
The Publishing Scotland-owned distributor also appointed Campbell as operations director.
He has held several senior operations roles, including regional business manager at Scotmid, one of the UK’s largest co-operatives. Reporting to managing director Davinder Bedi, Campbell will be responsible for overseeing all daily operational aspects at BookSource, ensuring publisher’s books flow efficiently, on time and in full through the supply chain.
Campbell said: “I’m excited by this opportunity to further enhance BookSource’s services to publishers and help drive the business forward. I’m looking forward to working with the rest of the team, I can’t wait to get started.”
