Aaron Blabey Signs Major Publishing Deal for New Tween Book Series

Aaron Blabey, the best-selling Australian author behind the popular The Bad Guys series, has secured an eight-figure deal with Macmillan to write seven new books targeted at tween readers. This new venture will see Blabey expanding his portfolio with two exciting new series, one a fantasy adventure and the other a psychological sci-fi tale. The deal marks a major milestone in the career of a writer who has already sold over 55 million copies of his books worldwide.

Blabey first made his mark in the world of childrens literature with the picture book series Pig the Pug. His charming, mischievous pug character quickly captured the hearts of young readers, catapulting him into the literary spotlight. Following the success of Pig the Pug, Blabey went on to write Thelma the Unicorn, a beloved story that was followed by a sequel. Both titles became bestsellers and were later adapted into a Netflix film, further cementing Blabeys place in the childrens book industry.

However, it was The Bad Guys series that truly propelled Blabey to international stardom. The action-packed and humorous books, which follow a group of animals trying to shake off their villainous reputations, achieved New York Times No. 1 bestseller status and became a major hit with readers of all ages. The series was also adapted into an animated film in 2022, with a sequel slated for release in 2025.

The new deal with Macmillan marks Blabeys return to writing after a brief period of contemplation about retirement. Speaking about the decision, Blabey expressed his excitement about working on fresh projects, especially after seeing the energy and enthusiasm Macmillan had for the new series. The publishing giants commitment to fostering his creative vision was a key factor in his decision to continue writing for younger audiences.

The first of the new series is titled Game of Pets, a fantasy adventure that will begin in 2026. This series promises to be a thrilling ride for young readers, with Blabeys trademark humor and heart at its core. The second series, The Awfuls, is a psychological sci-fi narrative that will take readers on an entirely new kind of journey, exploring complex themes and characters in a futuristic setting.

Blabey’s ability to blend humor, heart, and adventure into his stories has made him a household name among young readers, and with these new series, he shows no signs of slowing down. The new books, like his previous works, are expected to captivate and inspire children across the globe.
